WHO WE ARE
Peace Community Chapel is a welcoming, holistic, multi-denominational community, promoting advocacy, friendship and practical support for those in need. We seek to love God, to love our neighbors and to help others learn to do the same, through the teachings of Jesus. We accept and affirm ALL people, just as they are, who would join us for worship, and joyfully invite them to participate fully, as we seek to:
OUR PLEDGE
... and as far as the rest is concerned, we believe that God will help us figure it out as we go...
- grow a community where people of all ages and backgrounds practice passionate worship; radical hospitality; transformational spiritual growth; risk-taking mission and service; and extravagant generosity, so that all may come to know God through the teachings of Jesus;
- speak up for the disadvantaged, befriending and encouraging individuals and communities living with poverty and injustice;
- work together for peace and justice;
- be good stewards of the Earth;
- be a community where individuals search for spiritual truth and renewal through worship, prayer and study;
- support people in practical ways (i.e. by working with local food and clothing banks, as well as through meaningful giving.
OUR PLEDGE
- We affirm the worth and dignity of every person and encourage each other in spiritual growth;
- We are a community of seekers, in search of truth and meaning;
- We affirm free thought; that is, we encourage and respect each others' thought processes;
- We affirm that, though we are different, our differences take a backseat to our desire to love & heal this world, and to live as members of one human family;
- We affirm that there is no conflict between faith and knowledge, science and the arts, the sacred and the secular;
- We affirm the Bible as our primary source of wisdom and inspiration, but realize that it is not inerrant or infallible. We believe that the Bible is not literally the Word of God, as much as it is a collection of (divinely inspired) human words, that have the potential to lead us on our journey of faith.
