Peace CC's SockDrive
for the Area Homeless
Friends of PeaceCC,
Normally, at this time of year, we at PCC would be launching our Annual Coat Drive; however, area shelters have contacted us and requested that they would rather have socks this year. Socks are the MOST requested item at shelters for the unhoused because the unhoused often walk long distances daily, causing socks to wear out quickly, and clean, dry socks are crucial for foot health, preventing issues like blisters, infections, and frostbite, especially when exposed to harsh weather conditions; yet, they are also one of the least donated items, making them highly sought after.
Now that autumn and falling temperatures are officially upon us, we begin thinking, not only of gathering with family and friends during the upcoming holiday season, but (hopefully) we also think of those who struggle and who are alone at this time of year.
In the past 10 or so years, we've been able to donate a substantial number of winter coats to area shelters in Fairfield County, because of generous donations like yours. This year, we hope you'll continue the trend of generosity, by helping us donate socks to the area shelters. You'll be able to donate to this current drive until Sunday, DECEMBER 1, which you can do in a couple ways:
- click on the "Donate" button to securely donate on our PayPal page; or
- go to paypal.me/peaceccog; or
- send a check, made payable to “Peace Community Chapel,” to 36 Arcadia Rd, P O Box 506; Old Greenwich, CT 06870 (please write "Coats" in the Memo section of your check)
Please note: we are only taking monetary donations.
If you know someone you think might like to help out with our efforts, please forward this email to them! Remember, our SOCK Drive runs from tomorrow, Wednesday, 10/16 til Sunday, 12/1!
Thank you so much for helping to make this season a little warmer and for helping to make some very important dreams come true for people who now know that they matter.
Wishing you a wonderful autumn and holiday season!
Peace,
Don Adams, Pastor
