THIS MONTH'S CO-FEATURES:
The Pandemic Shows Us The Genius of Supermarkets by Bianca Bosker

THIS MONTH's GOOD READ(S): I’ve included the link to this month's best reads on amazon.com, because it’s easy to find the books; but if possible, see about buying your books from a local bookseller… they may be a little more expensive, but you’ll be benefiting the local community…
THIS MONTH'S ENTERTAINMENT: Brian Regan: On The Rocks (2021). The comedian known for his self-deprecating humor, debuts on Netflix this month! If you watch, you're in for a night of hilarity! Also on Netflix, if you like crime chillers, check out Lupin (2021), a retelling of the classic French story about Arsène Lupin, the world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise. Starring Omar Sy. A lot of fun!

THE CHURCH YEAR
LENT:
The season of Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 17 (Ash Wednesday), and lasting until Saturday, April 3, is a 40 day season of soul-searching and reflection. It is a season for reflection and taking stock, and originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter.

PEACE CC 6TH ANNUAL COAT DRIVE FOR THE AREA HOMELESS RECAP
During the months of October and November 2020, Peace Community Chapel (PCC) held its 6th Annual Coat Drive for the Area Homeless. Your donations flooded in this year, topping last year’s total of 400 coats purchased -- and in a year of pandemic, no less! We were able to purchase 512 new coats and by December 1, all coats were delivered!!
The four primary shelters that received the coats were: InspiricaCT and Pacific House (Stamford); Bridgeport Rescue Mission (Bridgeport); and The Open Door Shelter (Norwalk).
The centers were overwhelmed with the donations made, and most especially, the generosity from the community.
PeaceCC would like to thank all who donated to this year’s coat drive. We couldn't have done it without your support!
###
To see what you helped do for those in need, here's the link to our photo album...
Thank you so much, once again, and here's to a better and healthier 2021!
LOVE LAUNDRY
We are asking people to collect spare change (especially quarters!) and either donate them to PCC or to donate them directly to a local laundromat, so that customers can use them to help do their laundry. In these trying times, any little bit helps - plus, kindness is always a good thing!
DONATING TO FOOD BANKS & FOOD PANTRIES
During this time, a lot of people live with food insecurity, and food banks and pantries are depleted. If you are fortunate enough to have extra resources, I hope you'll consider donating either money or dry goods to a food bank or your local food pantry. What a blessing you'll be to those in need! Peace.

HATS HELPING HUMANITY: CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS!
Our resident knitter, Pam Illyn, knitted 100 hats, which we donated to the folks at the Beth-El Shelter (Milford) and the New Covenant Center (Stamford); and she's off to a great start already in 2020! SANDWICH MAKING FOR NEW COVENANT CENTER
Thanks to all who help in making sandwiches! Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we're suspending our Sandwich Ministry until it has been deemed safe to return to doing so. Now, if YOU would like to make PB & J or cheese sandwiches and bring them to the New Covenant Center in Stamford, we'd love you to do it! Just let the New Covenant Center know they're coming from PCC! Let me know if that's something you'd like to do, and I'll give you instructions.1

Several PCCers have been making bagged lunches for the folks at Beth-El Center in Milford for the last year 1-1/2 years or so. Thank you for all your support and your dedicated work... it is truly sacred and most appreciated. If you'd like to donate to help defray some of the cost to make these lunches, you can donate to the church via check (see above)! You can also donate via our PayPal site. Thank you!
